Race to the Sky 2007: Monster Tajima & Suzuki Sport Grand Vitara wins on 10th annivesary event!

One of the biggest hill climb event, ”Race to the Sky 2007” was held yesterday for the 10th time in Queentstown, New Zealand. Monster Tajima and his machine Suzuki Sport Grand Vitara has achieved overall win for the 8th time, 5 years in a row.

Monster Tajima has set his machine for the race day and people were eager to watch him break his own, and the event’s record lap. Unfortunately this year the stages were rougher than it was thought to be and therefore new record was not achieved. But still he clocked 8m 03s 9354 which was 17 seconds quicker than his biggest rival this year, Kenneth Eriksson (Subaru Impreza WRC) and became the 2007 champion.

Monster Tajima’s comment
“Today it was perfectly sunny day. But the temperature was only 1 degrees at the top of the hill in the morning. By the time I start to run though, the temperature got higher and higher.
In the morning qualify, I was 17 seconds ahead of second place Kenneth, 8m 12s 7464. At the final race, the stage condition was rougher than it was thought to be. I clocked 8m 03s 9354 which was not quick as last year, but managed to win the race. I would like to say thank you for all the support until today!
